Fable creator Peter Molyneux, now working on other projects, commented on June 30 on the recently released trailer for the new Fable from Playground Games.
“Like you, I would have loved to see more gameplay, but I really loved when the fireball was thrown from the heroine. I loved the feeling of impact it gave. I thought that showed real promise. So, you know, my hopes are high,” Molyneux told Gamereactor.
The designer called the casting of Richard Ayoade as “vegetable-obsessed Dave” perfect. According to Molyneux, Ayoade in that kind of role feels “very Fable.”
He also recalled what he sees as one of the series’ key features: giving the player the freedom to react to everything in ridiculous ways. Judging by the trailer, that freedom remains in the new game, Molyneux believes.
The official trailer for the new Fable was shown on June 11 at Xbox Games Showcase 2023. It featured “vegetable enthusiast” Dave, played by Richard Ayoade, and several combat scenes with a female Hero. Playground Games says the footage showed real in-game graphics.
