New Fable Is Being Made Entirely by Fans of the Series

Every developer working on the Fable reboot at Playground Games is a fan of the series, game director Ralph Fulton said.
"I'll tell you, every single member – and I can say this without qualification – every single member of the team is first and foremost a Fable fan," he said in a September 18 interview with Future Games Show (via GamesRadar).
According to Fulton, many of them, if not most, moved from around the world to a small town in Warwickshire, England, specifically for the opportunity to work on Fable.
"Each and every one of them came here because they're a Fable fan. They love the series, they want to bring it back," the project lead said.
From their very first day at the studio, everyone on the team shared the same goal — to make a great Fable game. Fulton believes that can be felt in the result.
Fulton previously told The Guardian how development of the new Fable began. After signing the deal, the studio started rapidly assembling a large team of highly talented specialists.
In late August, the developers presented two demos at Gamescom 2026, allowing players and journalists to see a story quest set in Bowerstone and try out the combat system of the new Fable. The game's system requirements were also updated.
The game will be released on February 23, 2027, for PC, Xbox and PlayStation, although players who purchase the Premium Edition or Collector's Edition will be able to start playing five days earlier, on February 18.
