A walkthrough of a main quest from the new Fable was shown at Gamescom 2026 with commentary from Game Director Ralph Fulton. The gameplay footage was also published separately on the game’s YouTube channel.
This is one of two demos that Playground Games prepared for the press. In it, the Hero arrives in Bowerstone early in the game following the incident in her home village of Briar Hill. Her first stop is home, where her daughter Daisy and husband Elliot are waiting. The player receives a key to the Heroes’ Guild and heads there.
Inside the Guild’s deserted halls, a drunken Humphry, the head of the Guild, asks for a tankard of beer. He has gambled away the rights to the building to Slick Ronnie, the leader of a local gang. Deep in debt and on the verge of eviction, Humphry needs the Hero’s help.
She runs into Ronnie’s lackeys as soon as she leaves the Guild. After the fight, the Hero earns a skill point and heads to a rougher part of the city, where the gang leader’s hideout is located. The trail leads her to a pub called The Poor House. On her way out of Ronnie’s office, the Hero gets into another fight and recovers the deeds to the Guild.
The video shows several districts of Bowerstone and reveals that the capital of Albion is still located on the coast. It also indirectly confirms that Aurora still exists in the reimagined world.
Earlier that day, an Xbox Wire journalist played a different demo of the Fable reboot and revealed new details about the combat system.
Fable was last shown in June: first at the Xbox Games Showcase, followed shortly afterwards by another half-hour of gameplay. The main presentation revealed several major spoilers, including the antagonist Isabel, who is herself a Hero, a battle in Bowerstone, and even the return of Jack of Blades.
The final release date — February 23, 2027 — was also announced, along with the game’s editions, prices, system requirements and cast, while the first DLC was revealed. There will be no official Russian localization.
