Microsoft could reveal new details about Playground Games’ next Fable at The Game Awards 2023, British newspaper Metro wrote on November 30.
The journalists expected release timing to be announced for Xbox games including Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Avowed and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl.
“After that it really does become pure speculation, but Microsoft will know that Fable is probably their most anticipated game at the moment, so will want to show more of that if they can,” the authors argued.
The Game Awards 2023 was scheduled to begin on Friday, December 8 at 3:30 a.m. Moscow time (7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, December 7). The broadcast would be available through the event’s website.
In July 2020, Microsoft confirmed that a new Fable was in development at Playground Games, best known for the Forza Horizon racing series. A teaser was shown at Xbox Games Showcase 2020, after almost a decade of unconfirmed rumors.
Three years later, in June 2023, Playground showed a trailer with gameplay footage at Xbox Games Showcase 2023. At the time, it was unclear whether the game was Fable 4 or a reboot of the series. It was known that the new game was being developed on the ForzaTech engine.
