Playground Games’ new Fable will launch in 2025, The Verge journalist Tom Warren said on June 6 ahead of Xbox Games Showcase 2024.
According to Warren, unlike several other games, Fable was not part of Project Latitude, Microsoft’s initiative to port some Xbox exclusives to PS5.
“I’m also expecting we’ll see more of Fable and South of Midnight and even 2025 release windows for both of these titles. I understand both Fable and South of Midnight aren’t currently being considered for Project Latitude releases,” he wrote.
The Xbox Games Showcase broadcast was scheduled for June 9 at 8:00 p.m. Moscow time.
In February, insider NateTheHate had also cited sources predicting a 2025 release for Fable, without providing further details.
In July 2020, Microsoft confirmed that a new Fable was in development at Playground Games, best known for the Forza Horizon racing series. A teaser was shown at Xbox Games Showcase 2020, after almost a decade of unconfirmed rumors.
Three years later, in June 2023, Playground showed a trailer with gameplay footage at Xbox Games Showcase 2023. At the time, it was unclear whether the game was Fable 4 or a reboot of the series. It was known that the new game was being developed on the ForzaTech engine.
