The new Fable from Playground Games will launch in 2025. The release window was confirmed on June 9 at Xbox Games Showcase 2024, where another trailer for the game was shown.
In the video, “Albion’s greatest Hero,” a retired man named Humphry, is interviewed about what life as a Hero is like — including having admirers and detractors and having to make serious choices.
Humphry says he once took the heroine from the previous trailer under his wing. Gameplay clips featuring her appear throughout the new video to illustrate his story. One shows the streets of Bowerstone, including Fairfax Castle and its recognizable tower.
Humphry calls the woman talented but “terrifying” and says every choice she made was wrong. At the end, the person he is describing appears beside him, looking angry, and announces that she is back.
The exact release date had not yet been announced. According to the trailer, the new Fable will launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC and will also be available through Xbox Game Pass.
In July 2020, Microsoft confirmed that a new Fable was in development at Playground Games, best known for Forza Horizon. A teaser was shown at Xbox Games Showcase 2020 after almost a decade of unconfirmed rumors.
Three years later, in June 2023, Playground showed a trailer with gameplay footage at Xbox Games Showcase 2023. At the time, it was unclear whether the game was Fable 4 or a reboot. The new game was known to be developed on ForzaTech.
