AeoN Shows Tool to Replace Fable Explorer and CBox
Language: EN | RU
Well-known modder AlbionSecrets (AeoN) has started developing a new utility called Ego Core for working with the game archives of the unified debug build of Fable: The Lost Chapters. He shared details from December 13 to 21 in the Fable Modder's Guild channel.
The earliest version of the program was called Fable Bank Explorer and was designed for the 3D model archive graphics.big, including viewing meshes with their physics and working with materials, particles, bones, helpers and lip-sync functions.
Soon after that, support was added for channel-based editing of textures from textures.big, including textures that were not supported by Fable Explorer and Chocolate Box.
Support for compiling the rest of the game’s archives then followed — game.bin, text.big, frontend.big, effects.big, fonts.big, shaders.big and dialogue.big.
At that point, AeoN’s utility received its new name — Ego Core. Compared with FE and CBox, it features a modern dark-themed interface where the game archives resemble browser tabs, as well as a convenient viewport, a small text editor, compilation of retail defs and texture export to DDS format. The build has not yet been released publicly.
AeoN is the creator of the large-scale Fable: Project Seasons mod. In 2025, he also created the Fable Script Extender (FSE) utility and the unified debug build of Fable TLC.
