Jez Corden Says New Fable Development Is “Extremely Expensive”
Language: EN | RU
The new Fable has become extremely expensive to develop, so it is unlikely to remain an Xbox exclusive and should eventually come to PS5, journalist Jez Corden said on December 15.
“That game was monstrously expensive. It might not be day one, but it’ll come with the current plan in place imo,” he wrote on X, referring to a release on other platforms.
According to Corden, Microsoft is unlikely to retain permanent exclusives in general, apart from games that may remain exclusive temporarily.
“Xbox won't have exclusives going forward. Everything is timed exclusive at most. If some games are exclusive it's gonna be incidental,” the journalist argued.
Last month, Corden also called an alpha build of the new Fable “fantastic” and compared it to The Witcher 3.
On June 9, Xbox Games Showcase 2024 officially confirmed that the new Fable was planned for 2025 and showed a new trailer with gameplay footage. Several screenshots then appeared on the game’s Xbox Store page.
In July 2020, Microsoft confirmed that a new Fable was in development at Playground Games, best known for the Forza Horizon racing series. A teaser was shown at Xbox Games Showcase 2020, after almost a decade of unconfirmed rumors.
Three years later, in June 2023, Playground showed the first trailer with gameplay footage at Xbox Games Showcase 2023. At the time, it was unclear whether the game was Fable 4 or a reboot of the series. It was known that the new entry was being developed on the ForzaTech engine.
