New Fable Will Not Have Multiplayer
Language: EN | RU
The new Fable will not have online co-op, according to the FAQ on the game’s new official website, fablethegame.com.
“Will there be multiplayer? No, Fable is a single-player open-world action-RPG,” one answer states.
The developers also once again confirmed that the game will not be a continuation of the original trilogy.
“Is this a continuation of the original Fable trilogy? No. Though the game we’re making is very much faithful to the spirit of the classic Lionhead trilogy, Fable is a new beginning for the Fable franchise and isn’t a continuation of the original games,” the page says.
The game was shown at Xbox Developer_Direct in late January in a full 12-minute segment. The presentation confirmed an autumn 2026 release window on PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 and revealed many gameplay features. The game will feature an open world, a choice of the Hero’s gender, character customization and many mechanics familiar from the series, including jobs, buying homes and interacting with NPCs.
Soon after the presentation, game director Ralph Fulton gave two interviews, with Xbox Wire and IGN. Among other things, he discussed the core elements of Fable and explained how morality will work in the new game, without horns and halos changing the Hero’s appearance. He also revealed that the next Fable will not feature a dog, while more than a thousand NPCs were created by hand.
Fable has officially been in development for more than five years — at least since 2020. It was originally planned for release in 2025, but its launch was later tied to Xbox’s 25th anniversary in autumn 2026.
