Playground Games should release the new Fable in Russian as well, series fan Darina MoonLight urged the developers on September 18.
“The new entry in our beloved Fable franchise should have Russian localization just like any other localization. This wonderful game series has a huge number of fans around the world, and Russian players are no exception,” she wrote in the Steam discussions.
Twenty years after the original Fable, the series continues to give fans the feeling of a fairytale, she noted, adding that the new game would undoubtedly leave players with just as many memories.
The author addressed Playground and Xbox Game Studios on behalf of Russian-speaking fans, asking them to remember players regardless of nationality.
Darina argued that it was worth trying to influence the localization situation even if the chances of success were small, and expressed hope that the developers and publisher would eventually listen and release a Russian version.
On June 9, Xbox Games Showcase 2024 officially confirmed that the new Fable was planned for 2025 and showed a new trailer with gameplay footage. Several screenshots then appeared on the game’s Xbox Store page.
In July 2020, Microsoft confirmed that a new Fable was in development at Playground Games, best known for the Forza Horizon racing series. A teaser was shown at Xbox Games Showcase 2020, after almost a decade of unconfirmed rumors.
Three years later, in June 2023, Playground showed the first trailer with gameplay footage at Xbox Games Showcase 2023. At the time, it was unclear whether the game was Fable 4 or a reboot of the series. It was known that the new entry was being developed on the ForzaTech engine.
