Language: EN | RU
The new Fable will launch in autumn 2026 on PC, including Steam, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The release window was officially confirmed on January 22 during Xbox Developer_Direct.
“I’m excited to tell you today that Fable is coming to Xbox, PC and PlayStation in autumn 2026,” game director Ralph Fulton announced near the end of the 12-minute presentation by Playground Games.
An updated version of the official key art then appeared on screen, showing the release window and platform list.
During the same broadcast, the developers revealed numerous gameplay and story details. The new Fable will feature an open world, a choice of the Hero’s gender, character customization and many familiar series mechanics, including morality, jobs, buying homes and interacting with NPCs.
As a child, the Hero will leave the small village of Briar Hill after a catastrophe and travel across Albion, fighting enemies and honing Strength, Skill and Will. Familiar locations including Bowerstone, the Heroes’ Guild and Bloodstone will return. Ultimately, the protagonist’s actions and choices will have a major effect on their reputation among the people of Albion.

Earlier that week, dozens of pieces of concept art from the new Fable appeared online. It also emerged that the game could receive an ESRB Mature 17+ rating.
Fable has officially been in development for more than five years — at least since 2020. Footage was shown in the Xbox podcast in February 2025, and before that at Xbox Games Showcase in 2023 and in 2024. The game was initially planned for 2025, but its launch was later tied to Xbox’s 25th anniversary in autumn 2026.
