Five screenshots from Playground Games’ new Fable appeared on the game’s English-language Xbox Store page a few days after the release of its new trailer.
On June 9, Xbox Games Showcase 2024 officially confirmed that the new Fable was planned for 2025 and showed its trailer with gameplay footage.
In July 2020, Microsoft confirmed that a new Fable was in development at Playground Games, best known for the Forza Horizon racing series. A teaser was shown at Xbox Games Showcase 2020, after almost a decade of unconfirmed rumors.
Three years later, in June 2023, Playground showed the first trailer with gameplay footage at Xbox Games Showcase 2023. At the time, it was unclear whether the game was Fable 4 or a reboot of the series. It was known that the new game was being developed on the ForzaTech engine.
