New Fable Will Offer Many Ways to Run a Business
Language: EN | RU
The new Fable will offer many ways to run a business and influence its profits, Game Director Ralph Fulton said in an interview with GamesRadar+.
"While there will be a way to optimize every business, one of the best ways to optimize a business is to identify whether an employee is actually working hard enough to increase the amount the business earns, and if not, fire them and just keep trying new employees to find one whose trait fits the business. Inside tip for you," Fulton said.
Players will be able to monitor how effectively their employees work and hire NPCs with more suitable traits. For example, every character with the "hard-working" trait will increase a business's profits by 20%.
Wages will also be able to affect employee motivation. Raising them may cause an NPC to work harder, while lowering them may have the opposite effect. However, the result will depend on the individual character.
Farms will be among the most profitable businesses and can employ up to six people at once. If the Hero hires six hard-working NPCs, their bonuses will stack and help the player quickly build a large fortune.
"You can certainly transform the economic future of people. By using the levers at your disposal as a landlord, as a business owner, you can change the lives of people," Fulton added.
Last week, Gamescom 2026 featured 18 minutes of gameplay, both with and without developer commentary. The footage shows a story quest set in Bowerstone. The heroine arrives in the city after an incident in her home village of Briar Hill, meets Humphry, the head of the Heroes' Guild, and tries to help him out of debt, including by fighting local bandits.
Journalists were also able to play another demo focused on the combat system. In a different quest, the Hero and Humphry descend into a mine and fight Hollow Folk and ghosts.
Fable will be released on February 23, 2027, although players who purchase the Premium Edition or Collector's Edition will be able to start five days earlier, on February 18.
