The new Fable was pushed to a later date so the PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 versions could launch simultaneously, insider NateTheHate (NateDrake) speculated on February 25.
“If I had to speculate as to why Fable was delayed: it's to allow some extra time for polish & to make the PS5 version a Day 1 release alongside Xbox/PC because the PS5 version was always slated for 2026,” he wrote on ResetEra.
On January 31, Spanish outlet Vandal had cited sources saying the new Fable was planned for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Journalist Jez Corden made a similar prediction about a PlayStation release in late December.
On June 9, 2024, Xbox Games Showcase officially confirmed that the new Fable was planned for 2025 and showed a new trailer with gameplay footage. Several screenshots then appeared on the game’s Xbox Store page.
