The new Fable (2026) is likely to receive an ESRB Mature 17+ rating, judging by the trailer for the upcoming Xbox Developer_Direct.
The video shows footage from three games, with Fable appearing first. A general notice in the lower-left corner indicates the expected ESRB classifications for the featured titles.
It states that a Teen rating is expected, although some games may be rated Mature 17+.
The trailer then shows Forza Horizon 6 and Beast of Reincarnation without separate notices. As Twisted Voxel notes, those games are expected to receive E (Everyone) and T (Teen, 13+) ratings respectively.
The original Fable (2004), Fable: The Lost Chapters, Fable Anniversary, Fable 2 and Fable 3 were all rated Mature 17+. Fable: The Journey received a Teen rating, while Fable Heroes was rated E10+.
Earlier in January, it was announced that the new Fable would be shown on January 22 at Xbox Developer_Direct, with the developers promising a “deep dive into gameplay.”
The game has officially been in development at least since 2020. Footage was last shown in the Xbox podcast in February 2025. The game had also been scheduled for 2025, but was delayed and is now expected roughly by autumn 2026. Xbox and PS5 versions will apparently launch at the same time.
