Guild Seal
Guild Seal is a magical artefact in the Fable series that allowed Heroes to teleport and communicate remotely. It is an elegant disc bearing the symbol of the Heroes' Guild.
The appearance, size, and use of Guild Seals differed between Fable games. They played their greatest role in the original Fable, Fable: The Lost Chapters, and Fable Anniversary, but also appeared in Fable 2 and Fable 3.
Guild Seal in Fable 1
During the Age of Heroes, every member of the Guild carried a Guild Seal. This allowed them to travel quickly across Albion and its islands through a network of active portals, as well as communicate with one another over long distances.
The protagonist of the first Fable was no exception. The Hero of Oakvale received his Guild Seal on the day he completed his training and used it throughout his life as a Hero. The Guildmaster used the Seal to contact him and other Heroes with important information, such as the availability of new quests.
Maze, Thunder, Briar Rose, and Guild apprentices clearly had Guild Seals as well: all of them teleport in front of the player on several occasions, although mercenaries and ordinary guards are also shown doing the same.
In the inventory, the Guild Seal is listed under "Other". It has its own icon and a base value of 2,000 gold, although it cannot be sold.
Description: "This magical device provides the user with a link to the Guild, enabling communication and teleportation."
The Guild Seal also played a prominent role in the interface of the TLC version of the first Fable.
Guild Seal in Fable 2
Five hundred years later, a Guild Seal is even rarer in Albion than the Heroes themselves. The only known artefact of its kind is the Bower Lake Tomb Seal, which the Hero of Bowerstone receives from Theresa early in the game.
Using the relic, the protagonist of Fable 2 gains access to the surviving Chamber of Fate beneath the ruins of the Guild and later receives guidance from Theresa throughout the game.
In this case, the Hero never uses the Guild Seal for teleportation, instead travelling between locations on foot or by carriage. The game even shows the distance in miles, although the journeys themselves take place off-screen. The most likely reason for such long trips is that almost no functioning portals remain in Albion.
The other Heroes of the Fable 2 era — Reaver, Garth, and Hammer — do not have Guild Seals of their own and have no practical way to obtain one. Garth, however, is a powerful Hero of Will who knows how to create portals and could theoretically develop an equivalent of the original Guild Seal.
Guild Seal in Fable 3
The last known Guild Seal is inherited by the Hero of Brightwall from father or mother — the same Hero from Fable 2. The ancient relic survived into the Industrial Revolution because it had been hidden in the tomb of the old King or Queen beneath the gardens of Bowerstone Castle, formerly Fairfax Castle.
Only the monarch's old companion, Sir Walter Beck, knows about it. Walter had trained the Prince or Princess from a young age; for convenience, we will refer to the protagonist as the Prince below. When King Logan's younger sibling is forced to flee the castle, Walter gives the Guild Seal to his pupil.
This awakens the new Hero's hidden powers and helps him teleport to his parent's Sanctuary together with Walter, the butler Jasper, and his dog. Throughout the game, Theresa uses the Seal to guide the Hero, while Jasper — apparently using the Sanctuary's own capabilities — provides updates about events across the kingdom.
The Hero also uses the Guild Seal on the road to the throne to gain the support of librarian Samuel and open the door to the Reliquary beneath Brightwall Academy.
In the Hero's "inventory", the Guild Seal appears as a trophy. This may simply be a gameplay convention, or perhaps the Sanctuary itself has taken over the Seal's teleportation and communication functions — much about how the Sanctuary works remains unknown.
Fable 3 also replaces traditional experience with special points represented by filling "Guild Seals", which are used to upgrade the character.

Guild Seal in Fable: The Journey
By the time of Fable: The Journey, almost no Heroes or magic remain in Albion. No actual Guild Seals have survived, but the protagonist, Gabriel, can find a collectable card in a chest containing an ironic reference to the artefact.
"Bemoaned by Heroes and adored by those who just love the sound of their own voice, the Guild Seal is an object of great power and the key to the Cullis Gate network. In theory a symbol of heroic achievement that marks the completion of a Hero's apprenticeship, in practise the Seal operates like a mystical tracking device, allowing the holder to be nagged day and night by anyone who can get hold of a counterpart. Not to be confused with Experience Points or Followers," the description reads.
Fan Art and Merchandise
Thanks to its history and distinctive design, the Guild Seal has become one of the most recognisable symbols of the Fable series among fans. It is used, for example, in the logos of FableGame, Fable Universe, Secrets of Fable, and other fan projects. Numerous pieces of fan art and physical replicas can also be found online.

Different versions of the Guild Seal became the subject of an entire album by Ekaterina. In this interpretation, the Seal more clearly represents the light and dark sides of a Hero's path and features wings.
A version of the Guild Seal designed as a smartphone stand was created by FableGame / Fable Universe editor Andrey Grushko.
The Guild Seal is placed on its surface, constantly reminding the owner of their heroic destiny.
Another example is a Guild Seal that was once given to FableGame editor-in-chief Evgeny Kolesnikov. It was an experimental attempt to reproduce the magical artefact using a 3D printer.
Guild Seal tattoos are no less interesting, with photographs of Fable-inspired designs repeatedly shared on Reddit.
Guild Seal merchandise remains among the most desirable items for Fable fans to this day. Perhaps owning a Seal in real life offers a way to keep a small piece of the beloved universe close at hand — and to feel, if only for a moment, like a Hero capable of overcoming any challenge.
