⚡ Playground Games Shows 30 Minutes of New Fable Gameplay
Language: EN | RU
The developers of the new Fable have shown 30 minutes of real gameplay with commentary. The lengthy video, demonstrating the game’s main systems, was published on the Fable YouTube channel on June 10.
The demo takes place in the peaceful farming town of Silverbrook, the largest settlement in Oakshire, one of the game’s six regions. In the story, the Hero — who looks very different in this playthrough — arrives to investigate the connection between Isabel, a “powerful Hero in a red cloak” whom the protagonist is pursuing, and magical incidents in Silverbrook. The Hero has heard something about giant vegetables and another Hero named Arden who lives nearby.
In the town square, the Hero makes the first major choice of the demo by deciding the fate of a talking pig. The first side quest demonstrates the series’ new dialogue system and reveals that the game will feature two hours of high-quality cinematics.
The presentation then shows more interface features and core mechanics, including the world map, gift-giving, flirting and dating, the reputation cloud, business management and blacksmithing.
Players will be able to hire employees and set wages and prices. The familiar bags of gold are gone: all income from property will instead accumulate in chests inside each purchased building, and it can be collected from a single location.
It was also revealed that Albion will contain more than 120 shops. The game features tailors, hairdressers and tattooists, but each settlement offers different appearance options, while rarer outfits can be found in remote locations.
Players can change their reputation by paying the town crier, while crimes will draw the attention of the guards. In the demo, the Hero fights them using both familiar and new spells — teleportation, lifting enemies into the air and turning them into chickens — as well as a sword-charging mechanic from Fable 3.
At the end of the demo, the protagonist escapes the guards into a location whose name comes from the first game, Windmill Hill, and a bounty is placed on the Hero’s head. As before, the player can pay the fine immediately or later at a discount, but the new reputation will have to be dealt with separately.
A few days earlier, a new Fable trailer was shown at Xbox Games Showcase 2026. It revealed several story spoilers, including a Hero antagonist named Isabel, a battle in Glushville and even the return of Jack of Blades. The showcase also confirmed the final release date of February 23, 2027, the game’s editions and prices, system requirements and cast, and announced its first DLC. There will be no official Russian localization.
Fable had been due to launch in the autumn, but one week before the annual showcase its release was delayed.
