Fable Developers Show Battle with a Giant Cockatrice
Language: EN | RU
A battle with a giant rooster-like monster in the new Fable was shown on the game’s official page on March 11. In the 25-second video, the Hero cuts down its health with a sword before finishing it with the “Shards” spell.
“Some creatures in Albion bite... Some claw... And some set the countryside on fire just because you looked at them funny. Meet the Cockatrice,” the post says.
Players had already seen the same footage at Xbox Developer_Direct in January, although the angry bird appeared for less time there. Another cockatrice was shown in a 2025 video, against a different location.
In January, the new Fable received a full 12-minute presentation at Xbox Developer_Direct. The event confirmed an autumn 2026 release window on PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 and revealed many gameplay features. The game will feature an open world, a choice of the Hero’s gender, character customization and many mechanics familiar from the series, including jobs, buying homes and interacting with NPCs.
Soon after the presentation, game director Ralph Fulton gave two interviews. Among other things, he shared his view of the core elements of Fable and explained how morality will work in the new game, without horns and halos changing the Hero’s appearance. He also revealed that the next Fable will not feature a dog and that more than a thousand NPCs were created by hand. The official FAQ also confirms that Fable will remain a single-player game.
Fable has officially been in development for more than five years. It was originally planned for release in 2025, and later its launch was associated with Xbox’s 25th anniversary in autumn 2026.
