Peter Molyneux Praises the New Fable’s Rich Visuals
Language: EN | RU
Former Fable designer Peter Molyneux likes the visually rich presentation of Playground Games’ reboot.
“They've taken that world and they made it far more graphically rich than we were ever capable of doing,” he told Eurogamer.
Molyneux did identify one small drawback, saying the result looks “a little bit antiseptically clean.”
At the same time, he supported Playground Games’ decision to create its own interpretation without consulting him, as well as the idea of reworking the original story.
According to the developer, what he saw in January was incredibly flattering and looked fantastic, while the Playground team struck him as genuine fans of the series.
A day earlier, Molyneux also spoke to IGN, where he said he had cried with emotion during the latest Fable presentation.
The new Fable was shown at Xbox Developer_Direct in late January in a full 12-minute segment. The event confirmed an autumn 2026 release window on PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 and revealed many gameplay features. The game will feature an open world, a choice of the Hero’s gender, character customization and many mechanics familiar from the series, including jobs, buying homes and interacting with NPCs.
Soon after the presentation, game director Ralph Fulton gave two interviews. Among other things, he shared his view of the core elements of Fable and explained how morality will work in the new game, without horns and halos changing the Hero’s appearance. He also revealed that the next Fable will not feature a dog and that more than a thousand NPCs were created by hand. The official FAQ also confirms that Fable will remain a single-player game.
Fable has officially been in development for more than five years. It was originally planned for release in 2025, and later its launch was associated with Xbox’s 25th anniversary in autumn 2026.
